Recognitions offered by the FQSA

The Salar

The Salar is a distinction awarded by the Federation, honoring outstanding contributions and dedicated commitment to Quebec's Atlantic salmon populations.

 

Selection criteria

Impact 

  • Exceptional and lasting contribution to the Federation's mission.
  • Significant impact on the protection, conservation and enhancement of Quebec's Atlantic salmon.

Commitment

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership within the federation or in collaborative projects.
  • Achievement of an initiative with a lasting impact over several years.
  • Peer or community recognition and support.

Transfer

  • Transferability of initiatives, offering benefits for the whole community.

Partnership

  • Integration of indigenous knowledge or collaboration with indigenous communities.
  • Active involvement with local communities.

 

 

Candidate's consent for mention

Candidates may not submit their own applications.

Candidates who consent to their nomination for the Salar Award, should they be selected by the selection committee, also consent to the use and public disclosure of some of their personal information and image for the purposes of communication activities aimed at publicizing the Salar Award. These activities could take the form of advertising or promotional content on the Web or social media.

 

Submission of applications

To submit a nomination, the online nomination form must be used.

The form must be duly completed and sent before January 1 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Quebec time to the following address: placasse@fqsa.ca.

 

Selection process

The FQSA's Recognition and enhancement committee makes an initial selection and submits the successful application(s) to the selection committee.

The selection committee is made up of the following members:

  • A member of the FQSA Board of Directors;
  • A member of the Salmon Foundation Board of Directors;
  • One person from the FCSA;
  • One person from another wildlife organization;
  • Any other person determined by the FQSA Board of Directors.

The winner(s) are proposed by the selection committee to the FQSA Board of Directors, which approves the nominations.

 

 

 

Paul-Plante honorary mention

The Paul-Plante honorary mention is awarded to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of fly fishing in Quebec over the years, especially in the fields of education and conservation.

This honour was instituted in 1984 and awarded annually by the Confrérie des pêcheurs à la mouche ATOS.

 

Selection criteria

  • Be or have been active in the field of fly fishing
  • Have contributed to the evolution of fly fishing in your region;
  • Have contributed to the evolution of fly fishing in the province of Quebec;
  • Contributed to the development of fish habitat for fly fishers.
